Found in: Western Atlantic, Eastern Pacific Oceans
Population Status: Low Risk of becoming vulnerable to extinction (IUCN 2007)
Tooth Shape:
Sharp needle-like teeth for grasping prey.
Reproduction:
Viviparous. Females reach maturity at about 2.4m in length. Gestation is about 12 months, and litters of 4-17 pups are born with newborn lengths of around 60cm.
Interesting Facts:
There are 2 species of Lemon Sharks - the Sharptooth Lemon Shark has slightly more curved trailing edges on its fins than the regular Lemon Shark. And is found in the Indo-Pacific region. See below for more info.
