Size: 16-19cm


Found in: Deep waters around 500m in depth off the coast of Venezuela and Columbia


Population Status: Classed as ‘data deficient’

Reproduction:


Ovoviviparous

Bear 2-3 young at a time, pups are around 5-6cm at birth.

The Dwarf Lanternshark is one of the smallest sharks in the world!


Dwarf and Pygmy sharks have bio-luminescent properties.

ie. they can produce a glowing type of light normally on their underside.
